FlightVor SMS Opt-In

This public page documents FlightVor’s web-registration consent flow for transactional flight alerts, its user-requested account-recovery message, and how a prior alert opt-in may be restored. All FlightVor transactional SMS delivery remains disabled until carrier-registration approval and the controlled launch are complete.

How consent works

Saving a mobile number does not by itself enable text messages. FlightVor uses a separate, affirmative opt-in:

  1. The pilot opens the public FlightVor registration consent step at https://app.flightvor.com/?register=1&plan=standard&step=sms. This is the real Step 2 registration form, opened directly so reviewers can verify the mobile-number field and the optional SMS control on the same screen.
  2. The pilot enters their own mobile number.
  3. The pilot may affirmatively check the separate consent box shown below. It is unchecked and optional by default, and the pilot may create an account without consenting to flight-alert SMS.
  4. FlightVor records that consent before sending any flight-alert or flight-claim campaign text. A one-time mobile verification code is used only to verify account identity and is separate from this alert consent.

Optional SMS alerts

This separate checkbox is optional and unchecked by default. A pilot may complete registration without selecting it. Checking this public proof does not save consent or send a message.

What a notification would contain

Once messaging is activated, a pilot who selects the optional box receives this confirmation: “FlightVor: You opted in to recurring flight alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”

Once automated SMS alerts are activated, a notification will identify relevant aircraft activity and provide a secure link for the pilot to review the flight. When activated, FlightVor sends these messages from +1 (850) 755-9118. Opening the notification or link would not claim the flight. Only the pilot’s explicit Claim flight action attaches the pilot to that flight.

User-requested account recovery

A registered pilot who needs account access may visit the public FlightVor recovery form at https://app.flightvor.com/recover, enter their own verified mobile number, and select Request a recovery link. That action requests one account-recovery message from +1 (850) 755-9118. It does not enroll the pilot in flight-alert messages, and opening the link does not claim a flight.

The requested message reads: “FlightVor account recovery: Open this secure link within 15 minutes: [secure link]. If you did not request this, ignore this message. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”

The recovery form states: “By selecting Request a recovery link, you request one transactional text from FlightVor at the verified mobile number on your account. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. This does not enroll you in recurring flight alerts. See our Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.”

Resuming after an opt-out

A verified pilot who previously opted in and then replied STOP may text START, YES, or UNSTOP to +1 (850) 755-9118 to restore that prior flight-alert consent. These keywords cannot create a first-time FlightVor SMS opt-in; first-time flight-alert consent is collected only through the separate unchecked box during registration.

Frequency, charges, and help

Consent may be saved now, but no automated text alerts are sent before the controlled launch. After messaging is activated, message frequency will vary with detected flight activity and message and data rates may apply. Pilots may reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance. Transactional notifications only

FlightVor does not use SMS consent for third-party marketing. Pilots can continue using non-SMS portions of the service after opting out.

FlightVor remains in private beta. No paid subscription, card, trial price, or automatic charge is active.
